It’s National Chocolate Cupcake Day! To celebrate, we’ll bake and decorate cupcakes. We’ll use two boxed mixes + I’ll bring some piping bags, some empty, some with homemade frosting. Please bring some icing your kiddos can eat – some of it comes in bags already! – and discuss safe options for decorating without licking communal property (this will be soooo hard!).
We’ll bake first thing, and while we’re waiting for that goodness to cool, let’s make some masks!
Please bring (or plan to craft) a paper mask, glue or a glue gun, and some accessories to share. I’m going to bring paint, these sticky gems and some feathers, for example. I bought this owl design, which you can copy, if you like, for Rosetta’s costume.
Optional Fishing + Park Excursion
Wilder and I looked up Arvada fishing regulations and found we can fish in any lake/pond where no signs to the contrary are posted. So we’re going to venture across Ralston toward the playground Rainbow Ridge, behind the soccer fields, where there’s also a decent-sized pond. (We’ll check for signs first.) If you want to fish with Wilder and Seth, bring poles. This is likely a 10-minute walk, with a stoplight + a kid-friendly pace. If anyone wants to scooter or walk to the playground, it’s a really fun one. Let’s discuss timing the day of, but I’m thinking around lunch and then back to decorate cupcakes?
