M – February 27: Seedlings + Garden Planning

Let’s start seedlings! Bring some seeds to share + something to plant them in. I’ll grab some big bags of potting soil at Ace. We’ll set up tables outside + get started on our winter sowing. I saw this great post about using leftover milk jugs + takeout containers as mini greenhouses – this is what I’ll be trying along with a covered seed tray. Whatever you plant will come home with you at the end of the day!

Let’s also make a plan for the church garden. Now is the time to brainstorm what we’d like to plant or add along the sidewalk. If it’s really nice outside + we have a clear plan, we can cut the landscaping fabric Jeni gave us to size + pin it in place to kill the grass. They would like to use low-water, bee-friendly plants, ideally native, but we can also come up with ideas for 3D artwork.

I’ll also bring supplies for encaustic art, if anyone wants to try this (besides me. They were dead cheap at a garage sale, so we can experiment without feeling “wasteful.”)

This week, please bring:
Blackett Family – It’s your turn to bring a game/activity for everyone to play in the morning!
Seeds + dirt
Egg crates or other seed-starting materials
Whatever craft, puzzle or game your kids want for today
Lunch, snacks + drinks for your people

Up next:

March 6   –   Show and Tell / Improv / National Oreo Day (Improv Games)
Bring something to show + props for the improv challenges (random objects)
Milk + cookies (doesn’t have to be oreos!) after lunch

March 13 – St. Patrick’s Day Party / Jelly Bean Genetics (Terneus)
Dress in green. No pinching, please! More party details to come /
Family tree + genetic traits explained with jelly beans

March 20  –   Firetrucks + Things That Go / National Ravioli Day (North)

In case you missed it, review + download our spring session calendar.
