LARP stands for live action role play. We are going to pick and choose from this wide world. We’ll build a story, weaponry, and then define terms for battle play. If your kids are super into it, there can be roles assigned and costumes – whatever, as far as they want to go. Here’s a few explanatory links: cartoon description of larping for littles, what is larping? for older ones, creating a LARP with your kids and types of weapons + rules.
To start, we’ll be weaving a story that determines what type of weapons we’ll need and helps to draw the rules for using them. Speak in an accent? Sure. Jump back – or forward – in time? Yep. It’s super flexible and creative, so the kids can add whatever they’re into to the story. We’re in charge. If your kiddo wants to be in costume, please bring costumes, or extra fabric we can use to fake an outfit.
We’ll craft weapons out of pool noodles, cardboard, duct tape, foam and sharpies while talking through the story arc and deciding on rules of play. Adults are welcome to participate as well.
Please bring a foam pool noodle or a thick, foam pad for each kid, and any costuming requested (or whatever else your kids want). I’ve ordered colored duct tape, and Alison’s bringing PVC pipe. We’ll need silver colored duct tape as well and some sharpies, if anyone wants to volunteer.

I’m having trouble finding a pool noodle. Did anyone by chance get an extra one?
I didn’t, but I did go to Home Depot and get this wrap-around foam that’s supposed to insulate pipes. 🙂 It’s about the same thickness, so that’s what we’re using, and they were $2 for 10 feet. I’m guessing you can share some of ours if you can’t find anything.
